Greg McGarry
(Canadian PGA Head Professional)


This marks Greg’s sixth year as Head Professional at the Glendale.  A Class ‘A’ member of the Canadian PGA, Greg has been a CPGA Golf Professional for 13 years.  Throughout his career he has spent time taking lessons and learning the teaching methods from PGA Teaching Professionals such as David Leadbetter, Butch Harmon, Hank Haney, and Dave Pelz.  Greg has attained his fitting certification for Ping, Titleist, and Callaway golf equipment.  A very strong player, Greg won the Alberta PGA Club Professional Championship in 2005 and 2006, the Alberta PGA Assistants Championship in 2001, and has competed on both the Nationwide Tour and Canadian Tour.  A graduate of St.Mary’s University in Halifax, Greg holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Marketing.

 

   


Blair Buttar
(Canadian PGA Assistant Professional)
 

This is Blair’s sixth year at the Glendale after spending two years at the Silver Springs Golf & CC in Calgary.  Prior to becoming a club professional, Blair was a touring professional on the Canadian Tour.  A dominant player and very active teacher, Blair is a true student of the game.  In 2006, Blair won the Edmonton Open.   2005 Blair was selected as the Alberta PGA “Player of the Year” after an awesome summer of tournament golf.  He preceded this by winning the 2003 Alberta PGA Assistants Championship, 2001 Alberta Amateur Championship, 2000 & 1997 Edmonton Amateur Championship, and 1992 Alberta Junior Championship.  His runner-up finish at the 2000 Canadian Amateur gave Blair an exemption into the Bell Canadian Open on the PGA Tour where he teed it up alongside the world’s best. Growing up in Leduc, Blair left Alberta to compete and coach at Texas A&M University (Commerce), where he graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree.

   
 

Jacques Plouffe
(Canadian PGA Associate Professional)

 

Jacques is in his third year in the Glendale golf shop this year.  A Class ‘A’ member, this will be his eighth year as a CPGA Golf Professional. Jacques started in the business at the Bonnyville Golf & CC, and then moved to the Blackhawk Golf Club for three years working under the tutelage of Mr. Kerry Ketter. Jacques continues to be an active player on the Alberta PGA tournament circuit, but still searches for that elusive first win. Jacques has completed his level IV of the Teaching and Coaching Certification Program and has attended seminars given by some of the greatest teachers in the game. He is looking forward to using his prior experience in helping the members at the Glendale improve their games.

   


Kevin Chow
(Canadian PGA Assistant Professional)

 

This is Kevin’s fifth season at the Glendale, fourth as a professional, after spending three years at Redtail Landing GC in Nisku, AB. He lists his biggest golf achievement as qualifying for and playing in the 2004 Alberta Open – in just his third year of playing golf. Kevin is excited about the prospect of expanding his teaching portfolio this season. Kevin has completed Level IV of the Canadian PGA Teaching and Coaching Certification Program. He is a graduate of the Professional Golf Management Program at Grant MacEwan, and is enthralled to be returning to the place that inspired him to join the golf industry for another year of experience, learning and helping members improve their games.

 
     
 

Veeraphon Thephasouvanh
(Canadian PGA Assistant Professional)

 
 

This is Vee’s second year at the Glendale after spending two years at the Edmonton Golf & CC and Sturgeon Valley Golf & CC.  Prior to becoming a golf professional Vee attended Grant MacEwan University where he completed the Professional Golf Management program. Vee was born in Chonburi, Thailand and moved here as an infant. Vee grew up in Edmonton and played his junior golf out of Raven Crest Golf and Counrty Club. He went on to have a very successful junior career winning various club events and competing among the cities best junior golfers. Vee has completed his Instructor Beginners certification, which is part of the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP). Vee is pleased to be returning to the Glendale and hopes to help its members achieve all their golf related goals.
